Sweet Mochi and Sweet Cat Grass

Tonight, I had leftovers. I resisted the temptation to photograph my plate.

I’m working on cleaning out the fridge because tomorrow afternoon we’re having company for the weekend and will probably eat out a bunch. I’ve offered to cook tomorrow night, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.

One thing to mention is that I’ve tried finally mochi. Loved it. I can’t wait to do more with it. Or even do this again.

I used the recipe (instructions, really) from The Kind Diet. Basically you toast it in a pan and serve with some brown rice syrup. This was delicious, and I was worried they didn’t puff up correctly, but either way, I enjoyed it. Chewy and sweet even without the syrup, this stuff is a favorite new find. Alex was afraid to try it, but I got him to try a bite by telling him it’s what his hero, Makoto Nagano, eats for stamina. The package does claim it promotes stamina!

I also gave the cats some grass that I grew for them from a kit I found in a pet store. The littlest cat enjoys this the most. She is very protective and keeps the others away!

022 Yes, it’s on a Simpsons plate. In the Veggie Awards, I voted for Lisa Simpson as the vegetarian I’d most like to see become vegan!

I hope you all have a good Friday and a wonderful weekend!

  1. Oh, I keep forgetting to go vote in those awards. That's so cute with your cat. And I have no idea what mochi is, but that looks DELICIOUS.

  2. I must investigate this mochi that I keep reading about. I love the pic of the cat - I think I see her pink tongue sneaking towards some grass!

  4. That mochi does look really yummy. Your kitty is so cute munching on that grass...I gave some to my cat once, but she wasn't interested...my guinea pig was though.

    I voted for Paul McCartney.

Have fun eating out and enjoying your in-town company! Hope you find lots of good vegan eats.

  5. Your mochi looks delish! I've seen that in "The Kind Diet" and wondered if it really was good. I need to be on the look out for it, so I can try it. Where did you find yours...Whole Foods?

  7. If you have a waffle maker; the recommendation in the kind diet to cut the mochi in strips and put it on a waffle maker..yeah; it's perfect. It's the most perfect looking waffle EVER.

  8. I love the picture of your cat! I need to grow some cat grass for Lima, now.

And I had never heard of mochi before now. Is the kind diet a good cookbook? I keep hearing more and more about it.

    Have fun with your visitors!

  10. lol love the Simpsons plate!!
Apparently mochi ice cream's really good too, or so I've heard. I also like to top my fro-yo with the little mochi pieces at the self-serve places.

  11. Yes! Mochi is awesome! I've only had it in a waffle iron though because the day I decided to try it in the oven was the day the oven decided it was broke. I munched it up real quick though so I'm looking forward to my next journey to Whole Foods to get some more (probably in each flavor, lol).

And that mochi-ice cream business sounds like pure deliciousness! I have to try that!
